a life of cheerful simplicity
The living do not die. Living things absolutely do not die. Only dying things die. It’s not a joke. It’s true. As long as you’re alive, you won’t die, so don’t worry. When you die, you won’t be alive, so don’t worry about that either. Even when you hear it said like this, can you still not find peace of mind?
I live in London with wife and children, two Burmese cats and a dog. Contrary to my own expectations I am becoming much more left-wing and caring as I get older. Which is nice.
The picture at the top left of this site is in the Bouleterion in Patara, Turkey. This was the parliament building where the elected representatives of the Lycian League met. It’s well worth a visit, not only because it was the first building in the world designed for a democratic parliament, but it’s also staggeringly beautiful.
