While in Paris last week, we dined three times at Chez Fernand- 9, rue Christine, 75006; +33 (0)1 43 25 18 55.
It’s great — very simple French cooking, almost rustic in style, with lots of good Winter dishes, but tempered by salads and lighter things (fish and seafood) if you feel like them. My boeuf bourguignonne was excellent, and came in a little iron cooking pot. The magret de canard was good, too, as were oysters and…well everything.
They serve a good Brouilly to wash it down, and the house white is really very drinkable.
Oh, and the waitress in there (there are two waiters, too, ladies) was…well, worth repeat trips to see.
